Shirley Pack Obituary

Shirley Pack, age 89 of Stephenville, went to heaven to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on a cold, snowy Tuesday, January 31, 2023. She was born June 24, 1933 to Wilson and Pauline Chambers in Bunyan, Texas.

Mother Theresa said, “If you want to change the world, go home and love your family.” Shirley Pack was indeed a world changer. Although the impact of her life was most felt in her home by her husband, the late Leon Pack, and her four children, the ripple effect of Shirley’s life was felt by anyone able to spend time with her. Truly, this world and her lifelong home, Erath County, is a dimmer place with the loss of this special woman.

Shirley, known by her loved ones as Mimi, had an extraordinary gift of making others feel loved and cared for. Her unconditional and enveloping warmth was deeply rooted in her love for Jesus, and her faithfulness to pray for the people in her life. Shirley was quick to serve, had a smile for everyone, and always loved having a full house. She truly exuded hospitality, and had the unique ability to celebrate the big and the small. She loved hosting church wide Easter gatherings, inviting her family over for holiday parties, sending countless birthday cards to loved ones and just simply showing up with a sweet treat for an occasion. She was not one to miss out.  And she was strong, one of the strongest women her family has ever known.

If her passions could be bottled it would be a mixture of her Bible and prayer list, a birthday card, sugar free dessert and a cup of coffee, pictures of her family, a telephone, a drawer full of Mary Kay, with a swirl of fashion. Shirley set an example in life, love, faith, and steadfastness. She will be missed beyond measure, and her absence has created a deep void in the lives of many.

She was a doting mother to her children: Randy and Marion Pack of Aledo, Bill and Marilyn Porter of Granbury, Ricky Don and Sharon Pack of Stephenville, and Allan and Debra Rodger of Fort Worth.

She was crazy about her grandchildren: Justin Pack and Eddie Roberts of Pearland, David and Brandy Johnson of Brock, Jordan and Kristen Porter of Montgomery, Tarah and Amy Casper of Belton, Kevin and Whitney Harris of Brock, Jeff and Erika Anderson of Aledo, Chris and Sawyer Taylor of Aledo, Blaine and Allison Sibby of Fort Worth, and Matthew Rodger of Fort Worth.

She loved her fourteen great-grandchildren: Shelden, Reed, Wyatt, Jackson, Porter, Ryann, Kinley, Waylon, Henry, Carter, Peyton, Briggs, Stratton and Scarlett.

Shirley is survived by her brother in law, Arthur, and wife, Beverly Pack. Her sister in laws: Wanda Pack, Sue Pack, Charlene Sharp all of Stephenville, Virgie Pack of Amarillo and her best friend, Annabell Ponce of Mexico. She has left many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, close friends, and brothers and sisters in Christ at the Cowboy Church of Erath County.

She was preceded in death and now in the company of the love of her life, Leon Pack. Her parents Wilson & Pauline Chambers, her brother Bernard “Buddy” Chambers, and brothers in law Carrol Pack, Lewis Pack, Thomas Pack and Bill Sharp. And her beloved Aunt Floy, Aunt Thelma, and Uncle Ralph.

A visitation is planned for 2pm on Sunday, February 5th followed by a funeral service at 3pm, both will be held at The Cowboy Church of Erath County. A reception with refreshments has been generously provided by the Cowboy Church immediately following the service. The family will proceed from The Stephenville Funeral home at 10:30am for a graveside service on Monday, February 6th at Gardens of Memory.
