Louella Jacks Obituary

Louella Jolene Duke Jacks passed away on Sunday, August 1, 2021 in Stephenville.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 21, 2021, at 11:00AM at the Gorman Community Center in Gorman, Texas.

Louella Jolene Duke Jacks was born July 27, 1940 in Gorman, Texas and passed away peacefully with her husband by her side on August 1, 2021 at the age of 81. Jolene grew up in Amarillo, Texas where she made many lifelong friends and was very dedicated to her classmates, the Palo Duro High School class of 1958. After spending several years away from Texas while raising her family, she eventually returned to her home state.

Jolene enjoyed time with her family, and particularly loved being Mimi to the grandkids and great grandkids. She always went a little overboard on decorating for holidays, or any particular theme of the moment. Though she was unable to cook much in recent years, she was known for many wonderful dishes. Her cornbread dressing will certainly be missed. She also loved sports, especially football, and country music. George Strait has one less dedicated fan on this earth.

Jolene never let her pain keep her from doing what she wanted and never gave up.

Jolene is survived by her husband, Wesley Jacks, Jr.; her children, John (Johnny) L. Hoelter  and wife Sandy of Shiner, TX, Julia Bishop and husband B.J. of Weatherford, TX, and Jill Hoelter of Mineral Wells; her grandchildren, Dustin Davis, Brad Bishop and wife Kristen of Fort Worth, TX, Jordyn Barr and wife Rebecca of Monroe, VA, Brian Bishop and wife Shelby of Weatherford, TX; her great grandchildren, Madyson Davis of Stephenville, TX and Brilee Bishop of Weatherford, TX; brother-in-law Phil Jacks and wife  Donya of Grand Prairie, TX, sister-in-law Ann Cole and husband Jerry of Stephenville, TX, and sister-in-law Jan Hill and husband Leon of Granbury, TX; uncle Gerald Haile of Archer City, TX, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Nelda (Haile) and Edmon Duke, sister Lanelle Langford, and great granddaughter Mackenzie Bishop.
