Lariat Larner Obituary

Lariat Lynn Larner, 24, was born on August 30, 1997 in Stephenville, Texas to Marty and Jodi Larner.  She passed away in a car accident on October 13, 2021 in Stillwater, OK.  Lariat lived in Stephenville almost her entire life with the exception of a few years in Friona, Gruver, and while attending college.  Lariat was an esteemed student, an accomplished athlete, and a fierce rodeo competitor.  During her youth she loved playing soccer, softball, and had an amazing love for horses.  She began her rodeo career at the young age of 7.  She participated in multiple youth rodeo associations and received numerous accolades and awards.  Throughout school Lariat was an honor student, excelled in cross country, basketball and track.  She graduated from Stephenville High School in 2016.  Lariat rodeoed for South Plains College and obtained her associates degree in 2018.  Lariat continued her college rodeo career at Tarleton State University where she graduated Magna Cum Laude in Agriculture Services and Development in 2020.  Her college rodeo career extended to Oklahoma State University where she was pursuing her Master’s degree while serving as the Assistant Rodeo Coach and was set to graduate in May of 2022.  Lariat Lynn made a name for herself in the college rodeo world tying goats and roping.  She qualified for the College National Finals for all three of the colleges she attended and was an NIRA American Scholar throughout her career.

Lariat meant the world to her parents and made an impact on everyone she met.  She loved God, life, rodeo, family, friends, and her animals dearly.  She will leave an everlasting impression on all of us that know her.  Lariat was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Doris Evans.  Survived by her parents, Marty and Jodi Larner of Stamford, Uncle David Larner of Morgan Mill, aunts and uncles Lana and Shawn Dill of Dublin, Kelly and Todd Tuggle of Lipan, cousins Bryson and Wacey Dill of Dublin, Jolee and Leddi Tuggle of Lipan, grandparents Linda Smith Bannahan of Fort Worth, Dan Smith of Clarendon, and Kenneth Larner of Weatherford.  Lariat is also survived by numerous great aunts, uncles, cousins, and a wonderful large circle of loving friends.
