Obituary

L. G. Bills, 93, of Stephenville, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, November 26, 2022.

Funeral services for L. G. will be at 2:00 PM Thursday, December 1st at Stephenville Funeral Home.  Burial will follow at West End Cemetery.  Visitation with the Bills family will begin at 1:00 PM until service time (2:00) on Thursday.

L. G. was born on August 7, 1929 in Stephenville to the late Andy and Zula Dakan Bills.  He was raised on a farm with his brother DA (Densel), his sisters, Nola Faye and Nettie Mae.  He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.  He married the love of his life, Dollie Mae Fidler, February 3, 1949, in Stephenville.  Together they raised 3 children, Gary, Jack, and Julie.  They also spent a period of time working to help other children during their stay as foster parents at Sherwood Foster Home for Children in Stephenville.  L. G. worked hard during his life as a truck driver, in construction, as a ceramic tile setter, owned a marble manufacturing plant and as a land/home developer.  He loved flying airplanes, and riding motorcycles.  His first dates with Dollie were with her riding on the back of his motorcycle as teenagers.  After retirement, L. G. loved to travel.  He and Dollie enjoyed trips all over the United States, and various cruises.  His favorite place to visit was Alaska.  L. G. and Dollie were lifelong member of the Church of Christ where he served as an elder for many years.  In his later years, his life revolved around church, meeting up with his buddies at the coffee shop and going to his grandsons’ ballgames.  He was a devoted member of the Johnsville Church of Christ, and lastly, he had a love for chocolate milkshakes, Blue Bell Ice Cream, and sour cream chicken enchiladas.  He was a strong Christian and looked forward to seeing his precious wife again.  Dollie passed in 2006, and he never went a day without missing her.  Besides his parents and his wife, Dollie, he is also preceded in death by brothers and sisters.

L. G. is survived by sons, Gary and wife Vickey, Jack and wife Donna; his daughter, Julie Griffin and husband David; six grandchildren, Chase, Tyler, Jessica, Jaimey, Sumer, and Joey; and four great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Dakan, Autumn, and Samuel.
