Johnie Faye Mayberry, 95, passed on Monday, April 12, 2021 in Stephenville, Texas.

 

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 24, 2021, at 10:00 AM at the Morgan Mill Baptist Church in Morgan Mill, Texas with Joe Rodgers officiating. A visitation will be held on Friday, April 23, 2021, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Stephenville Funeral Home in Stephenville, Texas.

 

Johnie Faye Mayberry was born on June 14, 1925 to the late John and Rosie Ake in Megargel, Texas. She graduated high school for New Boston High School in 1945 and was married to her first husband, William Carson Stough, who died in a military training accident. She married her second husband and father to her four children, Major Lester H Mayberry on December 12, 1945 and traveled the world before buying the family farm and settling down to raise her children, her garden, and become a homemaker and one of the best cooks in Erath County. She was also a member of Morgan Mill Baptist Church, and taught the 3 and 4 year-old class for 40 years.

 

                Johnie is survived by her son Grieg and his wife Mari Lea, daughter Karan and her husband Bill and son Bari; grandchildren Dana Leidholm, Suzanne Barnum, Chris Mayberry, Bethany Collop, Rachael Bulman, Jordon Koster, Kyle Koster, Scott Mayberry and Shannon Mayberry; plus her eight great grandchildren Tyler, Zach, Ben, Luke, Cade, Ryker, Everett and Ava Johnie.

 

Johnie was preceded in death by her parents and three older sisters, Avis “Sister” Heavenhill, Iris Strebeck & Edna Tims. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, William Carson Stough who died in a military training accident in 1945. In 1995 her husband of nearly 50 years and father to her four children, Lester H Mayberry passed away. She was also preceded in death by her oldest child, Nikki Faye Mayberry and her oldest grandchild, Teresa Renee Moore and her grandson Caleb Larabee.
