Curtis Hines Jr. Obituary

Curtis Hines Jr., 77, went to be with Jesus on April 1, 2024, in Fort Worth, Texas. God had plans
for Curtis from the very beginning, as he was born on May 28, 1946, to his mother, Leona
Jeffreys Hines, who did not know she was even pregnant. Curtis was only two and a half
pounds, but as the rest of his life would show, he was a survivor, as tough as they come. He
was born in Russellville, Alabama, growing up quickly, he was taught to take care of himself. He
learned things that no one can learn from school. At a young age, when times were hard, he
was raised by his grandparents. He later acquired the man he would call dad, Claude
Weatherman. Curtis moved around a lot as a young child, but he mostly grew up in the hills,
shooting guns, and living life to the fullest. He and his uncle Charkey were two peas in a pod,
always causing trouble, but they wouldn’t have had it any other way. He left home earlier than
most people do. He later came to Texas where he met the beautiful Deborah Wier, at a skating
rink when he was only 18. He knew immediately that he wanted to be with her for the rest of his
life, so they were married just two months later, on August 31, 1964, at the courthouse in Fort
Worth, Texas. Curtis was the best provider. He was a hard worker, but he was also smart with
what he had, and he would take the little bit he did have and turn it into so much more. He
enjoyed buying and selling as well as willing and dealing and he was good at it. Curtis
absolutely loved music and was a great guitar player, just a few of the wonderful qualities he
passed on to his family. He was most definitely a family man. He was always joking around and
laughing, but everyone knew they could count on him. Family meant the world to Curtis. He
loved Jesus with all his heart, and that speaks volumes since his heart had to be the size of
Texas, itself. Because of his big heart, Curtis helped care for both of his grandparents, his
parents, his siblings, his wife, kids, and even some grandkids. In the meantime, he also worked
many hours loading cars for Jack Cooper Transport for 30 years before retiring. Through his job
he became a part of the Teamster Brothers, a lifetime brotherhood. Curtis had many hobbies
such as woodwork. He also never met a stranger and was genuinely loved by everyone. He was
very active, always going, and he enjoyed jogging. When his wife passed away on March 13,
2008, he pushed on even with a broken heart to continue to care for those around him. Curtis
did many things, enjoyed many things, and worked hard at many things, but the most important
things he did throughout his life was love his family and pour himself into every one of them.
Curtis is survived by his two daughters; Kimberly Jenkins and her husband, Daniel of Whitney,
and Letatia Routh and her husband, Troy of Clifton, his grandchildren; Laicy Jenkins, Daniel
Jenkins Jr. and his wife, Kimberly, Christopher Routh and his fiancé, Brittany Woodard, Stacey
Hill and her husband, Rick, Curtis Routh and his wife, Elyse, his great-grandchildren, Blake,
Emily, Savannah, Aubrey, Lane, Channing, Kailyn, Wyatt, Nolan, Sophia, and Dax. He also
leaves behind his brother, Leroy Weatherman, and his sister, Deloris Weatherman.
Curtis is preceded in death by both of his parents, his loving wife, Deborah, his great-grandson,
Matthew, his brother, Dewayne Weatherman, and his infant sister.
The celebration of Curtis’s life will be Friday, at 1:00 P.M. at Stephenville Funeral Home. A
visitation will be from 12:00-1:00, prior to the service. A graveside service to follow will be at
