Cherry Larreau Obituary

Cherry Ann “Corkey” Larreau

11/1/1937 – 6/23/2021

Corkey Larreau of Stephenville, TX peacefully passed on the morning of June 23, 2021 at the age of 83 years.  She was born in Garrison, Tx to William Earl and Lena May McCarty and was 12th of 14 children.  The McCarty’s migrated from Oklahoma to El Paso, TX and operated the first dairy in that region for many years.  Being apart of a wonderful large family, there was never a dull moment.  She worked in the hospitality and management field most of her life but was known mostly as a second mother to many as well as a great wife, mom, grandma and great grandmother.  She served as one of Circle K’s first female regional managers in the New Mexico and West Texas area before she retired and moved to northern Nevada.  She married Winston “Hank” Larreau in Oct of 1987 and together enjoyed love and adventure throughout the western region of Neveda, Arizona and Colorado.  She single handedly was able to generate quite a few friends for her children through her baking and cooking luckily for them as they were inept in that area.  There was always a crowd around seeing if there were any eclairs, chile rellanos or fresh bread.

Corkey is survived by her children, Jubel & Annette Caldwell of Stephenville, TX, Tami Caldwell of Stephenville, TX, Jason & Missy Caldwell of Lake Author, NM, Joseph Caldwell of Battlement Mesa, CO, Frank & Carolyn Caldwell of Omaha, TX, Mike & Tammy Caldwell of Omaha, TX, Rodney & Robbie Larreau of Jackson Springs, NC, and Melaunie Larreau of Benton, AR.  She is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is also survived by her siblings, Tom & Pat McCarty of Gun Barrel City, TX, Jack McCarty of Canutillo, NM, and sisters Dixie Boyd of Gun Barrel City, TX, Maxie King of Grand Falls, TX, and Wendy Jack and Bruce Christanson of Goodyear, AZ.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hank Larreau and son David Larreau.
