Brenda Maguire Obituary

Brenda Doreen Wilson Maguire

July 11, 1949 – August 16, 2021

An excellent wife of noble character, loving mother, and faithful saint Brenda Doreen (Wilson) Maguire finished her final war with pain and disease and passed to her ultimate victory in Jesus on August 16, 2021 at 11:51 am at the age of 72.  It is her wish that you rejoice with her that the old rugged cross and the empty tomb make a remarkable difference, and fully realize that the joy and victory she is now experiencing in Paradise can be yours by belief in the ONE who provides victory over death, hell, and the grave – Jesus Christ of Nazareth.

Brenda and Charles were living in Lewisville, Texas at the time of her leaving.  She has now joined many other family members who preceded her passing.  The family members who still are awaiting their own victorious departure are her husband Charles, children Charles M. (Mickey) Maguire and wife Robin of Lewisville, Texas, Jay M. Maguire and wife Stephanie of Irvine California, Andrew P. (Andy) Maguire and fiancé Sigrid Jensen of Ojai California, and grandchildren Micah, Olivia, Ella, Evelyn, Swift and June.  Other family members include James and Jan Wilson of Plano, Texas and their children; Mark Wilson of Richardson, Texas; Phillip and Dorothy Wilson of Grapevine, Texas; Jerrye Wilson (wife of Brenda’s deceased brother Ralph) of Thornton, Colorado and their children; and Howard and Nancy (Maguire) Evatt of Stephenville, Texas and their children.

Brenda enjoyed the fullness life offers.  She was born on July 11, 1949 in Tacoma (Fort Louis), Washington to Alfred and Enza Dell Wilson who preceded her passing.  She grew up mostly in Dallas, Texas with 4 brothers James, Ralph who preceded her passing, Mark, and Phillip.  Moving to Stephenville, Texas in the spring of 1966, she graduated from Stephenville High School in 1967.  On August 31, 1968 she and Charles were married, and she attended Texas A&M University until graduation.  After graduating with honors with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, Brenda and Charles moved to Dallas in 1971.  Brenda was employed by Dallas ISD where she taught a multi-age classroom of K-2nd graders at Amelia Earhart Elementary until 1975 when her first baby boy (Mickey) was born.  That same year she and Charles moved back to Stephenville.  In 1979 a second baby boy (Jay) was born, and then in 1981 the 3rd baby boy (Andy) was born.  She was blessed to be able to stay home with the boys until Andy started first grade.  With the boys in school Brenda joined Charles working for the pecan company as the manager of the retail and mail order operations.  When she and Charles left that business in 1998, she returned to school teaching working with her much-loved team and students at Dublin ISD teaching ESL classes of 3rd graders.  When Charles moved to Austin for a job with the State of Texas in 2006, she took a job in Pflugerville ISD as a 4th grade ESL teacher.  Brenda took great joy in her work with her teams and her students until she retired in 2012.

Throughout their 53 years of marriage Brenda and Charles have actively expressed their Christian faith and used their God given abilities to serve the Lord.  One of Brenda’s greatest joys was teaching a group of high school girls that some folks still refer to as ‘Brenda’s Bevy’.  Those young ladies have grown to be mighty women of faith and Brenda rejoices even now at their bold confessions of faith.  She also enjoyed numerous Bible study groups with wonderful Christian friends.  Those relationships are priceless to her and have been a great comfort to her in the last days of her pilgrimage.  She wishes them all every blessing in Christ, and she wants us all to know that she is finally home and will be there waiting for us.  “Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord. (2 Corinthians 5:8 ESV)

Brenda’s family will gather for a graveside remembrance of their much-loved ‘B’ on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at 10:00 am at the Ramsey Cemetery located 3 miles southwest of Stephenville on Highway 8 (Lingleville Highway).  Rev Alan Brunson will lead the service and the family much appreciates his on-going pastoral care for Brenda and our entire family.  Brenda and her family request that any desire you have to give something in memory of her life be given to Christian charities or missions of your choice.
