Arnold Ramming Obituary

Arnold Ramming was born on August 12, 1955 in Anadarko, Oklahoma, and died on September 26, 2022 in Fort Worth, Texas. He passed away due to complications following a major stroke he experienced on August 21, 2022. He earned a Masters of Engineering degree from Texas A&M and worked for 34 years as a Civil Engineer in San Antonio, Texas and Bakersfield, California. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Cindy (Laughlin) Ramming (Stephenville, TX), son Ryan Ramming (Bakersfield, CA), his father, Kenneth Ramming (Stephenville, TX), sister Linda (Ramming) Leitner (Galveston, TX), and brothers Wayne Ramming (Columbus, GA) and Howard Bruce Ramming (Austin, TX).

Even while he earned a living as an engineer, music was always an important part of Arnold's life. He started playing piano at age 7 and then joined the band through high school. He also played organ for church services during high school. Following that, Arnold was always involved with church music, in some form or another, for the rest of his life. He played organ for student chapel and a nearby congregation while attending college. He sang with and directed church vocal choirs, and played organ for worship services off and on as needed. He directed vocal, handbell and chime choirs, as well as arranging music for those choirs. Hemet his wife, Cindy, while singing Christmas carols on the San Antonio Riverwalk. His son, Ryan, also studied music in college, with piano being his main instrument.

Arnold's dream for many years was to retire from his engineering day job and to work for a church where he could be more involved with their music program. Even while working full time as an engineer, he accepted part time positions at his church to play the organ and to direct and/or accompany the church choirs.

In September of 2014, Arnold realized his life-long dream by retiring from his engineering job in California and moving to Stephenville, Texas, where he served as Music Director of Faith Lutheran Church until his passing. He found this job very exciting and fulfilling, and he brought new dimensions to the church's music ministry as he encouraged many people to participate and "make a joyful noise unto the Lord.". He will be remembered for his enthusiasm, dedication, and heartfelt contribution to worshipping God through music.
