Arlis Sims Obituary

Arlis Dewayne Sims, 82, of Lingleville, died Wednesday, December 15, 2021.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, December 20th at Stephenville Funeral Home with Werth Mayes officiating.  Burial will follow at Lingleville West End Cemetery.  Visitation with the Sims family will be 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM Sunday at Stephenville Funeral Home

Arlis was born on June 12, 1939, in Gorman, one of seven children, to the late Hugh Thomas and Edna Odeal Robinson Sims.  He married Fredia Denio on July 12, 1958 in Stephenville.  Fredia preceded him in death on June 25, 1998.  Arlis married Shirley Hageman Adams on September 25, 1999 in Stephenville.  Arlis owned Sims Paint and Body for many years.

First and foremost, Arlis loved spending time with his family, he was so proud of his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  He lived on his ‘homeplace’ in Lingleville more commonly known as ‘The Farm’ and worked hard to preserve the history and loved raising cattle.  He spent many a year fishing and loved spending time with lifelong friends.  Arlis was a member of the Cowboy Church of Erath County, and a lifelong resident of Erath County.

Arlis is survived by his wife, Shirley; his two daughters, Dana and husband Kevin Parker, and Dawn Phillips all of Stephenville; his grandchildren, Brandy and husband Luke Musick, Cheyenne and husband Mick Chapel, Karlie and husband Corbin Bogart, Dillon Phillips, and Dewayne and wife Jessica Phillips; great grandchildren, Hudson, Hayes, Hallie, and Henley Musick; Paige Chapel; soon to be Mabry Bogart, Jaelynn, JP, Justin, and Jacqueline Phillips; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog “Dolly”.

Besides his parents, and first wife, Fredia; Arlis was also preceded in death by a sister, June Talley; and five brothers, Brooks, Royce, Don, David, and Norman Sims.

The Sims wish expressions of sympathy be made to the charity of choice, or during the Christmas season, ‘pay if forward’ to brighten the day for someone else.
