Winona Elliott

Winona Elliott, 100, passed away on Sunday, October 4, 2026, in Fort Worth.

Graveside services for Winona will be 2:00 PM Thursday, October 8, 2026 at West End Cemetery in Stephenville.

Winona was born on August 28, 1926, in Lynn County, Texas to the late Jim H. and Clara Otis Whisenant Izard. She married Joseph Joy Elliott on November 11, 1955 in Fort Worth. He preceded her in death February 20, 2004. She attended college at East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma, and she received an associate degree from Texas Womens University in Denton. She was a Certified Public Accountant for several years in Ada. She and Joseph lived many years in Ada until they moved to Stephenville, Texas, in 1996.

Winona attended church at Harvey Baptist Church in Stephenville. She loved to cook, was an avid reader, but most of all loved spending time with her family.

Winona is survived by her son, James “Jim” Elliott and wife Gayle; daughter, Rebecca Reyes and husband Henry; grandchildren, Samuel J. Elliott and wife Jaylan, Ann Marie Simon and husband Matt, Dawson Elliott Reyes, and Mason Grey Reyes; great grandchild, Leyton Elliott; niece Heather Larson and husband Chris.

Besides her parents, and husband Joseph, Winona was also preceded in death by a sister, Loveta Buchanan.
