Truitt Wayne Bandy

November 25, 1944 — April 13, 2025

Truitt Wayne Bandy, 80, passed away on April 13, 2025 in Wichita, Kansas.

A graveside service for Truitt will be held Saturday, April 19, 2025 at 10:00am at Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Stephenville.

Truitt was born on November 25 1944 to James Hubert and Opal A. Pack Bandy in Stephenville, Texas. Truitt worked in retail, managing the produce department at Piggly Wiggly for over 40 years.

Truitt and his wife, Pat, met at Tarleton and were married Nov. 26, 1966. (58 years.) Their wedding was held in Hamilton, Texas, at the First Methodist Church. Together they had one son, Michael Bandy.

Truitt played two years for the Stephenville Yellow Jackets and has been a lifelong fan of the team. He was so proud when the team began to win games. It was then that he began to follow the games. He didn't miss many until later years, and then he faithfully followed the games by listening to them on the radio. Boots Eliot was his favorite announcer.

His son played soccer from the age of five, and Truitt totally supported him. He never missed a practice session, nor a game. Even when Michael joined a select team, we packed up and followed him wherever the games were in the State of Texas.

In his early years his love was cars. He was proudest of his pale yellow '57 Oldsmobile. He enjoyed racing as well and entered several races at Greenvalley Raceway in the stock car division. His dad was a sharp mechanic, so he had an immediate pit crew. He managed to win several trophies. His interest moved to NASCAR as soon as it began to be televised. Besides loving the Dallas Cowboys, NASCAR kept him busy on Sunday afternoons .

Truitt is survived by his wife, Patricia Bandy; son, Michael Bandy; and granddaughter, Elayne Ruth Bandy.
