Shawna Dee Ann Jones Thomas passed away on October 30, 2026, at the age of 56. Shawna was born on November 22, 1969, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, to Sarah Sue Bromagem and George Jones. She spent her formative years in Nowata, Oklahoma, and graduated from Nowata High School in 1988.
In 1988, she moved to Texas, where she resided for the rest of her days. She worked for Dublin National Bank as a teller for many years until she left to raise her kids. She was an amazing cook and spent many years dealing Pampered Chef products. In 2017, she began working at Tarleton as an administrative assistant. She loved her job and truly enjoyed the connections she made with staff and students.
Shawna was known for her beautiful smile, which lit up a room, and her spirited personality. She never met a stranger and was a friend to all. To many, she will be remembered affectionately as “Momma Shawna”. Her favorite hobbies included trouble-making, cooking, and smoking. She never met a cigarette she didn’t like and could often be seen smoking on the street corner. She was an avid animal lover, especially horses.
Shawna was preceded in death by her parents, George Jones and Sarah Bromagem Jones McGee, stepfather Larry McGee, brothers James “Jim” Carman and Anthony ‘Tony” Jones. She is survived by her two children, Rhett Thomas and Ashlyn Thomas, her Aunt Bertha Lancriet, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 4th from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Stephenville Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at The Cowboy Church of Erath County on Thursday, November 5th at 2:30 p.m. No burial will occur as per Shawna’s wishes; she will be cremated.
The Family would love for visitors to bring a copy of their favorite photo of Shawna to give to the family. Additionally, a memory box will be available for visitors to write down and share their favorite memories of Shawna.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to the Erath County Humane Society. If sending flowers, please preferably use Petal Peddlers in Lampasas, TX, or Scott’s Flowers in Stephenville.
