Patsy ‘Pat’ Merle Thomas Lovell, 80, of Stephenville, passed away on Monday, May 5, 2025, in Stephenville.
Funeral services for Pat will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, May 10th at the Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Smith Springs Cemetery. Visitation with the Lovell family will begin at 9:00 AM (one hour prior to service).
Pat was born on March 20, 1945, in Gatesville, to the late Weldon and Geneva White Thomas. She graduated from Hamilton High School in 1963 and went on to Tarleton State University, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in 1966. Pat later received her Master’s degree in Education in 1988 from Tarleton. Pat married the love of her life, Ashley Lovell, on May 28, 1966, in Hamilton County.
She spent over 24 years as VP of Residential Services at Fosters Home for Children in Stephenville. From 1966 to 1967, Pat taught in Tolar, Texas, and from 1967 to 1968 taught 5th grade in Missouri. Pat was qualified with her M. S. in Education in Guidance and Counseling to become a Licensed Professional Counselor (LCP), Licensed Marriage/Family Therapist (LMFT), and many other qualifications in counseling. She retired from private practice in 2017, serving a wide range of clientele since 1988. In 2006, she pursued counseling full-time in establishing and operating Lovell Counseling Services PC. Lovell Counseling is still a thriving business with new ownership in 2021.
She loved spending time with children. Her passion in life was in counseling. Pat loved being with her family, especially with her grandchildren. She loved to travel, shop, garden, and caring for her cat and dog. Pat was a good cook. For many years she was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and the Tarleton Alumni Association. She was a member of the Graham Street Church of Christ and had lived in Stephenville since 1963.
Pat is survived by her husband, Ashley; daughter, Leann and husband Kevin Hook; sons, Jason and wife Abby Lovell; and Scott Lovell and Shawna Lucas; grandchildren, Kody and wife Hannah Hook, Karson and wife Taryn Hook, Halli Lovell, Tate Lovell, Madeline Meyer, and Kate Lovell; great granddaughter, Margaret Hook; sister, Sue and husband Chris Allen; brother, Bruce Thomas; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Pat was also preceded in death by a brother, Keith Thomas.
The Lovell family welcomes expressions of sympathy in donations to the Tarleton Alumni Association, the Graham Street Church of Christ-Basic Needs, Fosters Home for Children, or to the charity of the donor’s choice
The Lovell family also want to express their sincere thanks, for the special care given to Pat, to Lone Star Nursing and Rehab, CCS Hospice, and Dr. Miranda Nash.
