Lewis B. Atterbury, 93, of Benbrook, passed away Tuesday, July 9, 2019 in Fort Worth.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, July 13, 2019 with Rev. Mike Hannah officiating. The family will receive friends from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm Friday at the Stephenville Funeral Home.
Lewis Atterbury was born on December 6, 1925 in Energy, (Comanche County). To the late Lewis and Mollie Kearney Atterbury. He married Ruth Blakey on August 1, 1947 in Seagraves and she preceded him in death on November 5, 2018. Lewis served in the U.S. Army in the South Pacific during WWII. He retired as a Master Carpenter and Contractor after 63 years. He also farmed, ranched, and bought and sold real estate. Lewis was a lifelong Methodist and attended the Greens Creek Methodist Church.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Vickie Peach and husband Fil of Benbrook, Brenda Evitt and husband Milton of Abilene, and Rhonda Adloo and husband Ahmad of Lewisville; son, Vin Atterbury and wife Suzan of Joshua; sister, Sonya Sue Ball and husband James of Lubbock; grandchildren, Courtney Moseley and husband Mike, Jason Thompson, Chad Brothers and wife Lara, Hilary Allen and husband Kris, MacKenzie Johnston and husband Richard, Austin Atterbury, and Andrew Atterbury, great grandchildren, Gavin and Conor Thompson, Lily and Melody Johnston, and Giacomo Brothers.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Ruth Atterbury; 2 brothers, and 3 sisters.
The family asks memorials be made to Methodist Children's Home 1111 Herring Ave, Waco, TX 76708.
