Laquita Joy Pack Elston, a lifelong resident of Stephenville, Texas, was born on January 23, 1940, to Dean and Lotena Pack. She grew up in the Oak Dale community and attended school at Oak Dale before transferring to Huckabay.
While attending high school at Huckabay Laquita met Edwin “Baldy” Elston, and the two were married on November 21, 1958. Together they built a life centered around their faith, family, hard work, and service to others.
A lifelong resident of Erath County, Laquita was a faithful member of the Huckabay Church of Christ sharing the love of Jesus through serving, teaching, mentoring, and encouraging.
Laquita and Baldy raised four children: Scotty, Charlie, Randal, and Sheila. Her greatest joy was her family and she cherished time spent with her 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She especially enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s many activities and being present for the special moments in their lives.
Laquita found happiness in the simple things: vegetable and flower gardening, a good Grumps burger, canning, sewing, doing good for others, and spending time with the people she loved.
She was an accomplished business woman as well. Baldy and Laquita operated a successful dairy operation for 30 years with her business savvy complimenting Baldy's operational know-how. She was a partner with her brother, Kenneth and sister Denise in The Water Shop for almost 15 years. An accomplished seamstress, Laquita also served many in her sewing and alterations business for many years.
Laquita’s life was centered in her faith and trust in God and reflected in her love and devotion to Baldy, her family, her friends, and her community. She loved deeply with a generous spirit and nurturing heart touching many lives through her genuine care and tangible acts of service.
Laquita is survived by her husband, Baldy. Her sons Scotty and his wife Cindy, Charlie and his wife Donna, Randal and his wife Kelly. Her daughter Sheila Elston. Her sister Denise Kribbs and husband Mike. Her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and a large extended family.
She lived a beautiful, abundant life.
