Joann Russell Speck

Stephenville JoAnn Russell Speck, 80, of Stephenville, died Friday, April 9, 2010, in Stephenville. Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Saturday at Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Dean Reed officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery. JoAnn was born on February 3, 1930 in Putnam to the late C. C. and Reba Cathey Russell. She graduated from Stephenville High School in 1947, and attended Tarleton State College. JoAnn married James Speck on December 26, 1951 in Stephenville. He preceded her in death May 22, 2007. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church attending the Kum Dubl Sunday School Class, a member of the Current Readers Club, and the Red Hat Society. JoAnn moved back to Stephenville in 1990 after living in Houston over 30 years. While in Houston she spent 25 years as a Real Estate Broker. She is survived by two sons, James Russell Speck of Granbury and Robert Eugene Speck of Corpus Christi; grandchildren, Kirra and Kayla Speck of Austin; nephew, Chris Wood of Plano; and several cousins. She was also preceded in death by a son Randy Speck, and by a sister, Mary Ellen Wood. Memorials maybe made to the First United Methodist Church Building Fund.
