James Willis Taylor, 92, passed away on November 4, 2026 at his home in Morgan Mill, TX surrounded by family.
Willis was born in Mitchell County on June 13, 1934 to Sallie and Lee Roy Taylor.
In December of 1954, a pretty young lady caught his eye. Wasting no time, 6 weeks later, Willis married the love of his life, Emma Louise Robinson. They were married 71 years, building a marriage and life based on love, patience, humor and faith in God.
A hard working man, Willis held multiple jobs over the years, including Philips Chemicals, Safeway, Dillards and Philips 66 and Bell service stations. However, his passion was farming and raising cattle, which he dedicated himself to for decades.
He is survived by his wife, Louise Taylor, his sister, Mary Lou Meadore, of Aransas Pass. Four children: Tim (Donnette) Taylor of North Richland Hills, TX. Linda (Barry) Pennell of Corinth, TX. Rod (Lori) Taylor, of Hawley, TX, and Stan (Shelia) Taylor, of Corpus Christi, TX. Five Grandchildren: Stetson (Michelle) Stanton (Salena) Taylor, Ashley (Michael) Jones, Cody (Catlyn) Taylor, Zane Taylor. Five great grandchildren: Austin, Emory, Ryker, Grady Taylor, and Finn Jones.
Willis cherished his grandchildren and frequently attended their sporting events. He was a loyal Houston Astros fan and dominated the court when playing his sons in basketball. He allowed his cat, Fluff, to boss him around and made sure her dinner was always on time.
