October 23, 1956 — December 17, 2025

George Barron McCormick, Jr. 69, of Bluff Dale, passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2025.

Funeral services for George will be at 1:00 PM Saturday, December 20th at Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel with Scott Pace officiating. Burial will follow at Glenn Cemetery in Bluff Dale. Visitation with the McCormick family will be Friday, 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, at Stephenville Funeral Home.

George was born in Dallas, Texas, on October 23, 1956, to the late George Barron McCormick, Sr. and Vera Allene Bishop McCormick. George graduated from South Garland High School in 1975, and he joined the U. S. Navy, where he was a tugboat mechanic. In 1976 George went to work with the U. S. Postal Service at the Dallas Bulk Mail center. On July 20, 1978, George married the love of his life, Jianna Duke, in Dallas. Jianna passed away on October 14, 2024. George spent forty years of service with the Postal Service, thirty of those years in Stephenville, where he spent most of his lunch hours at Santa Fe Taco Co. George and his family moved to Bluff Dale in 1986, where he managed the Barron Family farm, which was established in 1870. He also served the community as the Chief of the Bluff Dale Volunteer Fire Department from March of 1996 until his death.

George was a member of the Bluff Dale Baptist Church. He spent a lot of his time working the farm. He enjoyed anything to do with racing. He loved NASCAR, racing his own cars and working on all the mechanics. He loved spending time working outdoors. He also loved helping everyone in the community. George was the guy everyone called when they needed help with something. Most of all he loved spending time with his family.

George is survived by his son, Keith and wife Carly McCormick; granddaughter, Cambria Yvette Morin; grandson, Barron Andrew McCormick; sister, Cheryl Rhoades; and brother, David and wife Deannah McCormick; and several nieces and nephews.

The McCormick family wishes expressions of sympathy be made in the form of donations to the Bluff Dale Fire Department, P. O. Box 337, Bluff Dale, Texas 76433.
