Gene Barfield

Ray Gene Barfield, 78, of Huckabay, Texas, passed away Thursday, September 11, 2025 in Huckabay.

Graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Huckabay Cemetery in Huckabay. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Friday, at the Stephenville Funeral Home.

Gene was born on January 15, 1947 in Hamilton to the late Robert E. and Selma Joyce Pierce Barfield. He married the love of his life, Darlene Pack on July 16, 1966 in Stephenville and together they raised three children. Gene worked in the oilfield until his retirement, and was a member of the Double N Cowboy Church in Dublin. He loved playing dominoes and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Darlene Barfield of Huckabay; children, Linda Stewart and husband Guy of Huckabay, Missy Peterson and husband Ben of Mineral Wells, and Johnny Barfield and wife Ashley of Huckabay; grandchildren, Kacie, Kari, Kyla, Jessie, Corrie, Chase, and Cassie; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Bonnie French and Elaine Judkins.
