IN THE CARE OF
Shannon Rufe Snow Drive Funeral Chapel
David Ross Jarrett, 64, of Grand Prairie, Texas, passed away unexpectedly at Baylor Scott and White Grapevine on April 17, 2025. Born on February 5, 1961, in Corpus Christi, Texas, David lived a life marked by kindness, unwavering support for his family, and a deep passion for all things Texas Longhorns.
A proud graduate of Corpus Christi State University, David began his college journey at the University of Texas at Austin and remained a devoted Longhorn for life. As a retired accountant and CPA, his attention to detail extended beyond numbers—he was a walking encyclopedia of Longhorn sports statistics and a die-hard fan no matter the season or sport.
In 1981, while working at the Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Austin as a ballroom instructor, David met and married Terry Kay Gaines Jarrett and instantly became a stepfather to her two daughters, Courtney Michelle, and Brooke Ann. At only 20 years old, David embraced his new role with love and dedication, becoming a constant and cherished presence in their lives. Though David and Terry later divorced in 2019, they remained steadfast friends, co-parents, and grandparents.
David was a loving and devoted “Da” to his granddaughters, Taylor Brooke Stone, and Olivia Meadow Gaines having raised Taylor and Olivia. The sun rose and set in those girls for David, and he found immense joy in being a part of their lives—particularly during the past year, cheering passionately for Olivia and her 12.2 National Black Club volleyball team at Eagle Mountain Volleyball. David was incredibly proud of Taylor and her following in his footsteps obtaining her own degree in Accounting.
He is survived by his daughter Courtney Michelle Gaines of Grapevine, Texas; granddaughters Taylor Brooke Stone and Olivia Meadow Gaines both of Grapevine; his brother Kirk Kampfhenkel of Lewisville, Texas; nephews Kai and Christian Kampfhenkel of Lewisville; niece Rayven Kampfhenkel; stepbrothers Gary and Glen Whittington of Corpus Christi; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. Later in life, David pursued his birth family with open arms and was fortunate to forge meaningful relationships with them, who came to know the caring, tender-hearted, and good man that he was. David cherished meeting each and everyone of them.
David was preceded in death by his father, Harry Jarrett, and stepmother Mary Jarrett; his mother Nell Kampfhenkel and stepfather John Kampfhenkel; his grandmother Nannie Kampfhenkel; his beloved daughter Brooke Ann Stone; and his stepsister Gaye Galante.
He will be remembered for his sharp mind, his love of board games, lotto tickets, Whataburger and darts, his thoughtful conversations, his unwavering support of his family, his taste in music, and above all, his gentle and loyal spirit.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at Shannon Rufe Snow Funeral Chapel in Fort Worth, Texas at 12:00 p.m., with visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. A private family burial will follow at Corinth Cemetery in Stephenville, Texas, where David will be laid to rest next to Brooke.
David’s life was one of quiet strength, deep love, and fierce devotion—especially to “his girls.” His legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
