Cynthia Ann Moore, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend, and educator, peacefully passed away on September 11, 2025, at the age of 78 in Tolar, Texas. Born on January 15, 1947, in San Jose, California, Cynthia lived a life filled with love, laughter, and a deep dedication to her family.
On August 17, 1967, Cynthia married the love of her life, John Moore. Together, they recently celebrated 58 years of marriage. In 1988, John and Cynthia moved to Stephenville, where they made their home for the past 37 years.
Cynthia earned her Bachelor of Science degree from San Jose State University in California and later received her Master’s degree in Education from Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas.
In the 1970s, Cynthia broke barriers by becoming the first female commercial lending officer for Bank of America in Northern California, paving the way for women in the financial industry. She later carried her passion for learning into the classroom, serving as a devoted school teacher with Stephenville ISD for 14 years. Her dedication, determination, and love for teaching touched the lives of countless students and colleagues.
Cynthia was a cherished member of the Stephenville community and will be remembered for her strength, kindness, and devotion to others.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Doloris Miller. She is survived by her brother, Bob Miller and wife Penny; her husband, John Moore II; her son, John Moore III and wife Kate; and her daughter, Stacey Lewallen. Cynthia also leaves behind her treasured grandchildren: John Moore IV and wife Casey, Macy Griffin and husband Quade, Jeremy Moore, Lexy Hardcastle and husband Derek, and Aaden Lewallen; as well as three great-grandchildren: Maybree and Stanton Griffin, and John Moore V.
A memorial service to honor Cynthia’s life will be held at the Stephenville Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 17, at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Cynthia’s name to the Morgan Mill Community Center —a place where she created many cherished memories and formed lifelong friendships.
