Clayton Smith Roberson, 91, of Stephenville, passed away on Monday, May 25, 2026. Funeral services for Clayton will be at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 31, 2026 at Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at West End Cemetery. Visitation with the Roberson family will begin at 1:00 p.m., one hour prior to services.

Clayton was one of 13 children born to the late Vivian Sybil and Charles Wesson Roberson. He was born on October 11, 1934 in Stephenville, Texas. He attended Tarleton State University and graduated from Texas Tech in 1959 and completed his masters at Central Michigan University in 1975. He received his commission in the U.S. Army upon graduation from Texas Tech and proudly served in strategic military intelligence and counter intelligence for 21 years, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1980.

Clayton married Doris Jean McCauley on July 9, 1960 in Havre de Grace, Maryland. Clayton was a passionate golfer and travelled annually to Myrtle Beach to golf and vacation with his wife.

Clayton is survived by his sons Glen and wife, Marge; Bruce and wife, Melanie; and Roger and wife, Sherry; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; three siblings; and numerous nieces and nephews.
