Anita “Nikki” Bourne Glass, age 82, passed away peacefully December 17, 2025 in Stephenville, TX after a courageous battle with dementia.
Nikki was born on April 30, 1943, in Detroit, Texas, to Laval Arwood and Tommie Dee Bourne. The youngest of three children, she grew up alongside her two older brothers, Joe Bourne and Jimmy Bourne. According to family lore, when her mother brought her home from the hospital, her brothers struggled to pronounce “Anita” and instead called her “Nikki”—a name that lovingly stayed with her throughout her life.
Nikki graduated from Duncanville High School in 1961, where she was active and accomplished. She played on the basketball and volleyball teams, served on the library staff, worked as a reporter for the school newspaper, participated in the pep squad, and was honored as the 1961 Valentine Coronation Queen.
In 1965, Nikki married Billy Don Glass. Together they raised two children: Kerri Everett (Kyle) of Stephenville and Dusty Glass (Misti) of Fort Worth. She was grandmother to four amazing grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Following high school, Nikki began her professional career at Plastics Manufacturing in Dallas, Texas, where she worked as an administrative assistant and held several roles over more than a decade. Later she worked in several medical offices before relocating to Cranfills Gap, where she was a stay-at-home mom, bookkeeper for the ranch, and Billy Don’s trusted helper. After her children were grown, she returned to the corporate world for a long career with Texas New Mexico Power, where she served in various roles, most notably she was part of a team of front-line employees, tasked with the implementation of upgrading the Customer Information System to a Windows based Banner platform. This challenging, multiple yearlong project brought her fulfillment and fostered enduring friendships that she cherished dearly.
Nikki was part of Cowboy Church of Erath County and spent years teaching Sunday School at First Baptist, Cranfills Gap and Fairy Baptist Church. She was blessed with many lifelong special friends from the Cranfills Gap area, she loved to shop, loved a good garage sale or junk store, traveling with her friends, and hosting the infamous “creek parties” on Meridian Creek Ranch.
Nikki is survived by her children and their spouses, her grandchildren Blaine Glass and Brady Glass of Fort Worth, and Kacie Everett of Keller, her great grandson Jett Glass, and her brother Joe Bourne (Wanda) of Seagoville, and many nieces and nephews.
Nikki was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her granddaughter, Kylie Everett; and her brother, Jimmy Bourne.
A private family memorial will be held at Meridian Creek Ranch in Cranfills Gap, Texas, at a date to be determined.
