Obituary

George Daniel Hoke
December 7, 1956 – August 30, 2020

George Daniel Hoke, 63, of Stephenville, passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2020.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 pm Friday, September 4, 2020 in the Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel with Bishop Jake Heller officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 2:00 pm before the service. A private interment will be held at Taylor’s Chapel Cemetery in Comanche County.

Dan was born on December 7, 1956 in Alexandria, LA to Harmon Eugene Hoke and to Gene Doerge Hoke. He married Pamela Renee Helm on July 14, 1984 in Cleveland, TX and together they raised three children. Dan has worked in many capacities within the banking industry for 37 years in Texas, California, Arizona, Illinois, New York, and Ohio. He was instrumental in writing the Texas laws for wire transfers in the 1980’s which are still used today. He was a mentor to many whose paths he crossed. He saw their potential and helped them to develop it.
Dan was always whistling without knowing it and had a book close by ready to read. He enjoyed refinishing furniture and he loved his family, especially being a Papaw.

Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Pam Hoke of Stephenville; children, Emily Katherine and husband James Lee Garcia of Dayton, TX, Mackenzie Elizabeth and husband Spencer Aaron Key of Katy, TX, and Caleb Elias Hoke and wife Allison Murphy Braun of Columbia, MO; grandchildren, Hallie Kay Garcia, Harper Danielle Garcia, and Griffin Daniel Key; brother, William Eugene Hoke and wife Beverly; and sister, Melanie Michelle Lewis; sisters-in-law Delma Lee Walters, Lillie Luelle Hobbs, Thelma Joan Pate and husband James Alton Pate, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister in 1954; father, Harmon Eugene Hoke; and mother, Gene Doerge Hoke.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Children’s Interstitial Lung Disease Foundation, a local animal shelter, or any charity of your choice.

The family requests that, due to health concerns, all visitors and attendees where masks or face coverings.
