Ben McCollum

Ben Martin McCollum, 56, of Stephenville, died Sunday, July 22, 2012 in a Fort Worth hospital

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, at Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel with Gerald Freeman officiating. Burial will follow at West End Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.

Ben was born on July 23, 1955 in Dublin to the late Dr. Ben and Barbara Ann Walden McCollum. He married Jana Davis on June 9, 1978 in Bluff Dale. Ben worked for the City of Stephenville, street department; die setter and machinist; brick layer; oilfield worker; pole and line construction; and also worked in bridge foundation construction. He was a lifelong resident of Erath County.

Ben loved nature and the outdoors, and also was an avid deer hunter. He enjoyed spending time with his cattle, and doing leather work

Survivors include his wife, Jana; son, Trac and wife Courtney McCollum of Decatur; grandchildren, Kyle, Baylee, and Cole; sister, Teresa McCollum of College Station, Uncle, Harris McCollum of Fort Worth; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Family wishes expressions of sympathy be made in the form of donations to the American Heart Assn.
