Obituary for Loy Weldon

Loy Ruffin ‘L. R.’ Weldon, Jr., passed away Friday, January 13, 2017, at the age of 87.

L. R. was born on December 23, 1929 in Port Arthur, Texas to Loy Ruffin, Sr. and Sydney Elizabeth Morgan Weldon, who both preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his wife Jo Ann Garner Weldon in 2012.

L. R. is survived by three sons, Dana Weldon, Rudy Weldon, and Kevin Weldon; many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is also survived by Christi Trice, and her family who he and his wife considered at their daughter.

L. R. grew up in southeast Texas playing football in high school at Port Neches, Texas, and at Lamar University. He was offered tryouts with a couple of pro teams, but chose to stay in the Port Neches area until he and his wife, Jo Ann moved to Lingleville, Texas in 1996. They briefly relocated to Charlestown, Indiana in 2009 to be closer to Christi and her family. L. R. returned to Texas with the Trice family this past September. L. R. worked as a shift supervisor at Ameripol-Synpol Company, in the manufacture of raw latex. He was an avid gardener, and enjoyed wildlife, and being outdoors.

A small graveside service will be held at a future date and time, at Oak Bluff Cemetery in Port Neches.
